I used to wrestle tomorrow
like it owed me answers.
Stay up late arguing with what-ifs
that never planned on showing up anyway.
I would carry storms I could not steer,
check the weather every five minutes,
wonder why my hands were tired
when I never touched the rain.
Then I realized
that stress is just imagination
working overtime
on a project it was never hired for.
So now I loosen my grip.
I stop chasing outcomes
that do not know my name.
I let life breathe
without demanding a rehearsal.
I find joy in small victories.
The coffee still warm.
The music hitting just right.
A laugh that catches me off guard,
A moment that does not ask to be posted.
I’m learning peace is not found
by controlling the current,
but by trusting I can float.
By letting today be enough
without borrowing worry from tomorrow.
And somehow,
when I stopped stressing about the whole map,
the ground I was standing on
finally felt like home.
